Connect a desktop agent

Before you connect

An agent is optional: you can work through Studio manually. A connected agent can help inspect your project and carry out tasks. Its own subscription or API costs may be separate from Studio and generation-provider charges.

Keep Studio open while connected. Review the agent service’s privacy and data-use policies before giving it access to your material.

Follow the guide for your client

1. Open Settings → Agent Server (MCP) in Studio and enable the server.
2. Select the desktop agent you want to use. Follow the setup guide shown for that client; use automatic setup when it is offered, or the copied setup instructions otherwise.
3. Preserve any existing client settings. Add or update only the Studio connection, and keep connection tokens out of chats, screenshots, and bug reports.
4. Install the Studio skills using your client’s supported method. Get the matching skills download from your account if the guide calls for it.
5. Restart the client if its guide asks you to, then confirm it can see Studio and inspect a project before asking it to generate anything.

Give it a clear first task

Try: “Describe this project and suggest one small next step. Do not generate, delete, or spend anything yet.” Review the proposed work and costs before approving it. If the connection fails, check that Studio is open, Agent Server is enabled, and the client has the current connection settings.
